In Courtship Behavior, conceived and performed by Boston’s Hortense Gerardo, a single dancer and a video projection engage in a duet of intricately ritualized gestures. Utilizing the art of BUTOH-inspired movement, video projection and live shakuhachi flute playing in vivo Productions presents a 10-minute performance piece that provides the visual equivalent of tanka (Japanese romantic poetry.)
